ITINERARY:

DAY 1 : LIMA - IQUITOS - LODGE
Fly from Lima to Iquitos on morning or morning flight. Reception at the airport by one of our guides. From there we will journey 60 miles to the town of Nauta, the first town ship founded by the Spanish on the Marañón River. The trip to Nauta takes about an hour and a half.

In Nauta, we will visit the SapiSapi Lake where we can see species such as the Paiche (largest Amazonian fish), Arawana and regional turtles as well as a brief story at the Centenary Square.

From Nauta, we will board our boat to the Pacaya Samiria Amazon Lodge. You will receive a warm welcome with a seasonal fruit drink, and a presentation in the Kukama Kukamiria language by a tribe member. You will be shown to your bungalow and then have lunch. In the afternoon we will go for a walk where we will identify flora and fauna in the forest surrounding the Lodge. We will return at night to try to locate the dendrobates (tiny poison-dart frogs) characterized by their bright colors. We will return to the lodge for some time to relax before dinner.

DAY 2: - PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE - LODGE
After breakfast we will go to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve area called Nauta Caño. During our excursion we will search for pink and gray dolphins. We will also be see the wide variety of flora and fauna the reserve offers. The first thing that will draw your attention is how the river water perfectly reflects the sky, clouds, vegetation and large trees along the river banks. Visitors will have the sensation of sailing between endless mirrors, which is why Pacaya Samiria is also known as "the forest of mirrors".

We will also go for a walk through the flooded forests, where we will try to see some primates such as Squirrel Monkeys, Capuchins, Howler Monkeys, Pygmy Marmosets and possibly other species and sloths. During the journey we can also observe a variety of birds and the traditional Amazonian subsistence fishing practice.

Next, we will return to the lodge to visit the women's crafts center (seasonal) of the San Jorge community, known for their work with natural Chambira fiber and Wingo or pumpkin carving. You will then have time to relax before dinner.

After dinner the guide will give a talk about the myths and legends of the Peruvian Amazon.

DAY 3: VISIT 20 DE ENERO - OVERNIGHT CAMPING IN THE RESERVE
After breakfast we visit the community of 20 de Enero to learn about the different tasks done by local residents for natural resource management to preserve National Reserve. These activities consist of aguaje palm fruit production, boat building and artisanal fisheries. Then journey to Renacal area for camping (lunch on board or camp) where we will arrange for exploratory journeys in the area to look for wildlife.

After dinner we will take a boat ride to look for nocturnal creatures such as Caiman, frogs and night birds.

DAY 4: PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE - CAMPING
Breakfast at camp and the take a walk looking for more animals or you may prefer to cool off in the water of Yanayacu.

Lunch at camp or on board the boat and a journey to enjoy the landscape that surrounds us and there we may be surprised by some wildlife we have not seen before because in the jungle none of this is predictable.

DAY 5: PACAYA SAMIRIA NATIONAL RESERVE - CAMP - LODGE
Enjoy breakfast in camp and then get ready to begin the return journey to the lodge, on the way we will enjoy look for animals and dolphins.

Arrive at the lodge around noon for lunch, then enjoy some free time to enjoy the lodge grounds or just relax.

In the afternoon we will have an outing for bird watching and a colorful sunset if the weather permits. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

DAY 6: LODGE
After breakfast we will journey to take walk in the high forest at Fundo Casual to look wildlife such as Poison Dart Frogs and to see some very large trees.

We return to the Lodge at noon for lunch and then observe traditional fishing techniques accompanied by a local inhabitant of the area, who will teach us the techniques they use for subsistence fishing. We will set a trap to check the next day and, hopefully, catch a fish for breakfast.

DAY 7 : LODGE - IQUITOS
Before breakfast we will check the fish collection trap. The rest of the morning free to pack and have lunch before we start our return journey to Nauta and Iquitos.
