For boat rides on cold days, bring excellent rainwear, warm winter coats, and warm hats. In May and September, 2-4% of the days also have cold fronts with drizzle or rain, though they tend not to be as cold. Most other days in the period of May 1 to December 31 tend to be warm or hot and sunny.

Pantanal Explorer, 4 day / 3 night program

CaimanDay 1 - Cuiabá - SouthWild Pantanal
Arrival and reception at the Cuiabá airport (CGB) on morning flight. Lunch in Brazilian Buffet near the airport or in town of Poconé (depending on the arrival time). Departure to the lodge, driving for 90 min before reaching the famous Transpantaneira Road. This raised dirt and gravel road is one of the best wildlife viewing areas in the world. Here you can admire the flora and fauna along the Transpantaneira and make several stops on the way to film or take photographs.

SouthWild Pantanal was once called Fazenda Santa Tereza, which was a traditional cattle ranch. Today, it is an eco-lodge on 1,500 hectares of flooded lands situated on the banks of the wildlife-rich Pixaim River. Here you are deep in the Pantanal and from our boats on the river and in walks in our riverine forest, you can see three species of monkeys, up to 400 bird species, Capybaras, caimans, and Giant Otters. You can also explore the marked trails through the forest surrounding the SouthWild Pantanal. Two wildlife observation towers are strategically located at the Jabiru Stork nest and in the riverine forest. Overnight at SouthWild Pantanal.
(Lunch, Dinner)

JaguarDay 2 and Day 3 - SouthWild Pantanal
Activities at the lodge are organized according to the current weather, logistics and clients interests by the guide an our local team. One forest walk and one boat, car or horse outing per day are included.* All meals included. Overnight at SWP.
(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

*Forest walk: 1-2 hour morning or afternoon walk in the forest and savannahs not far from the lodge. SouthWild Pantanal is an excellent location for birding, almost an essential location for serious birders who come to Pantanal. Optional visit to the forest tower. Capuchin Monkeys are often seen in the forest.
*Boat ride: 2 hours morning or afternoon boat tour of the Rio Pixaim. It is also one of the best sites for predictable viewing wild Giant Otters from a distance of only 3 to 16 feet away. Often they will come close to the boat, craning their necks, and snorting loudly.
*Horseback riding: 2 hour horse-back riding through the ranch. This offers a great opportunity to see the Pantanal from a more intimate angle.
*Additionally SouthWild Pantanal offers the free use of the Jabiru tower close to the lodge and great photo opportunities on the feeders and garden outside. During the hottest time of the day you can enjoy the pool or our library of nature books.

Day 4 - SouthWild Pantanal - Cuiabá
At proper time , transfer to Cuiabá on private car. Arrival at the airport , check in and departure for your next destination.
(Breakfast)

Those rivers are connected right in the center of the Jaguar Zone. Return for lunch at the flotel and then a 4-hour boat outing session searching and observing jaguars, giant otters, capybaras and lot more. Return to SouthWild Pantanal Lodge.
