The Galapagos Islands have two airports receiving flights from mainland Ecuador. No International flights arrive directly to the islands. The most frequently used airport is Baltra, located across a narrow straight from Santa Cruz Island, the other airport we find at Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on the island of San Cristobal. Both airports have daily flights arriving and departing from/to Quito and Guayaquil. All flights to the Galapagos originate in Quito and make a stopover in Guayaquil. Airfares are the same to Baltra as to San Cristobal. It is possible to arrive at one island and return from the other.
We recommend you take a soft-sided bag to the Galapagos. Space is limited on board the yachts and ships, and a soft bag such as a duffel works best as it can be stored in a drawer or closet. On flights to Galapagos you are allowed a maximum of 20 Kg (44 pounds) of luggage, excluding your hand-bag and carry on.
